Dr. Calvin Bacon, Jr.
Assistant Professor, Mitchell School of Business, Uniiversity of South Alabama Calvin specializes in developing businesses from startup to harvest. Prior to moving to Mobile, Calvin spent seven years at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) where he established its Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management program. In 2004, Entrepreneur Magazine named the UALR program as one of the top programs in the country. Calvin earned his Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship from the University of Georgia in 2001 and received his MBA from the University of Alabama in 1989. His undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee where he graduated in 1981. He is a licensed engineer in Mississippi. Currently Calvin is an assistant professor of management teaching Small Business Management, New Venture Creation, and Operations Management at the Mitchell School of Business, University of South Alabama. Calvin also is the host of "Alabama Business Today." Broadcast on WNSI FM 105.9 and WNSI AM 1000. Calvin and his guests discuss a variety of business-related issues. Prior to entering academia, Calvin worked as a maintenance manager for Proctor & Gamble in Albany, Georgia, and later worked as a project engineer for Weyerhaeuser Company in Columbus, Mississippi and operations manager at the Weyerhaeuser's IMPAK facility in Atlanta. |
