April MacKenzie Mason Burr and Forman, Associate
Providing legal counsel for businesses is what April does for a living. Her professional experience includes not only product licensing, but mergers and acquisitions and business entity formation too.
As corporate counsel for a sports event management and marketing company, April drafted, reviewed, and negotiated various venue, sponsor, and vendor contracts related to major sporting events in Alabama.
She was also responsible for managing the relationship with the Alabama High School Athletic Association, which involved developing a media rights plan and negotiating broadcast agreements, as well as managing their corporate sponsorship program.
April is an active member of the Birmingham Venture Club, an organization designed to encourage entrepreneurial development and investment in Birmingham, as well as the Blackburn Institute, a forum dedicated to identifying strategies to improve the quality of life in the State of Alabama.
She received her B.A., magna cum laude, in 1995 and her J.D., summa cum laude, in 2004, both from the University of Alabama. She also received her M.B.A. from the University of Alabama in 2004. During law school, April served as Junior and Senior Editor for the Alabama Law Review. She was named a Hugo L. Black Scholar and a Dean M. Leigh Harrison Scholar. April is also a member of the Order of the Coif.
As the current chairman of the Rotaract Club of Birmingham, an affiliate of Rotary International the group spearheaded the “Ready 2 Read” Second Grade Reading Initiative. As part of this initiative, Rotaract placed libraries in every second grade classroom in the City of Birmingham to help promote literacy.
She recently served as a loaned executive for the Trident United Way and was a member of the Birmingham MS Leadership Class of 2008 and the 2009 Alabama Leadership Initiative.
